Turkey have participated in all contests to date. They have struggled to make the final since the quarter final round was introduced, and Tarkan's 5th place in the first contest remained by far their best placing in the contest, until 
Bratislava where Sertab Erener's 'Here I Am' grabbed 3rd place in the final, performing strongly throughout the contest.
